Edition of 3: 1996
Flax paper, eggshells, ink tattoo, magnet
4″ x 4″ x 4″

Tattoo has an eggshell mosaic covering the outside and a flax paper with embedded half eggshells inside. One of its playful aspects is that it is can reverse itself so the inside becomes the outside. The concept of “book” is thus defined by this small object: a container of precious information, symbolized by the eggshell, another “precious” container.

As a postscript, several of the shells have tattooed numbers on them raising the question how a number can further extend meaning.
