Anamnesis: “mother”, June 10 – September 15, 2011
Bildungshaus St. Benedikt, Seitenstetten, Austria
The exhibition occupies the interior spaces around the chapel of the Seitenstetten Abbey, its garden and orchard.
Silverberg exhibited “mother”, one in the series of her artist book installations called “Anamnesis: The Opposite of Forgetting”, where the psycho-geography of place & memory converge. It is a 14-foot long posting wall of announcements, ads, posters & detritus, in German, along with a sound & video piece focused on memory and healing.
Outside in the apple orchard, adjacent to Bildungshaus, Silverberg made an installation of a series of paper pieces that hang on the trees. They depict images of nests and an absurdist German text of imagined apraxia therapy words.
They remained in place throughout the four-month installation, changing only slightly with the weather & time.
