Nightmare’s Resolution

Series of 2: 2005

Dustpan: 15″ x 10″ x 2.5″; Slipcase of books: 1″ x 2.5″ x 4″

Fourth in the dustpan series, this book object takes on an actual nightmare.

A handmade paper dustpan is covered with text, images and embedded with hair. A tiny wrap case holds four volumes with texts that attempt to resolve a tragic event: the artist’s father is killed in a dream. The text is heavily edited — an examination of the image of a manuscript. Each book repeats the dream sequence by printing the edited version from the previous volume, along with updated hand-written editing and commentary, until acceptance can be found.
